Vietnam - South Africa Needs to Exploit Diverse Areas of Cooperation

Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) received Humile Mashatile, spouse of South African Vice President Paul Mashatile in Hanoi on December 14. The two sides discussed the potential for Vietnam-South Africa cooperation and agreed to coordinate in activities that contribute to strengthening friendly relations between the two peoples.

Phan Anh Son said that Vietnam - South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1993, yet the two countries' relations started long before that. The first delegations of the two countries met at the Afro–Asian Conference in Bandung (Indonesia) in 1955. The two countries' people have good feelings for each other. The two sides share common visions in building and developing each country.

In recent years, Vietnam - South Africa relations have developed in many fields, such as economics, trade, and technology. The two sides have ample rooms for cooperation in tourism, cultural exchange, art, and education. education, and mining.

VUFO has coordinated with the Vietnam - Africa Friendship and Cooperation Association (VAFCA) and the South African Embassy to Vietnam to organize diverse activities, including celebrating the anniversary of the two countries' relations and holidays, friendly meetings, conferences, trips for South African delegates in Vietnamese localities.

 

VUFO hopes Humile Mashatile will facilitate and stimulate South African agencies and organizations to pay more attention to strengthening friendly relations with Vietnam; establish a South Africa - Vietnam friendship group, and introduce partners to VUFO and VAFCA.

Humile Mashatile, spouse of South African Vice President Paul Mashatile, said the ongoing visit of the South African delegation continues the results of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan's visit to South Africa in September 2023. During Vo Thi Anh Xuan's visit, the two sides discussed cooperation in many fields such as politics, security, economics, education, and culture.

According to the spouse of South African Vice President, Vietnam and South Africa have similarities in history. The two countries need to continue to promote cooperation in activities that bring practical benefits to people such as education, cultural exchange, and hunger and poverty eradication.
