Phan Anh Son Assigned Secretary of Party Union of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations held a conference to implement the Secretariat's decisions on human resources in Hanoi on the afternoon of Sep. 15.
In Decision No. 980-QDNS/TW dated Sep. 14, 2023, the Secretariat appointed comrade Phan Anh Son, Party Committee member, Party Committee Secretary, and President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Union of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations for the 2019-2024 tenure.
Under the authorization of the Secretariat's Standing Committee - Head of the Central Organizing Committee, comrade Nguyen Quang Duong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, handed over the Decision to comrade Phan Anh Son.
Comrade Nguyen Quang Duong congratulated comrade Phan Anh Son. He regarded Phan Anh Son as an enthusiastic, brave officer who constantly trains himself and always strives to improve; He has held many positions in different agencies and always well accomplished assigned tasks, especially during his time as Vice President - General Secretary of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. Nguyen Quang Duong believes that with his capacity, qualities, experience in the field of foreign affairs, and management and leadership ability, comrade Phan Anh Son will lead and direct the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to complete assigned tasks.
Speaking at the Conference, comrade Phan Anh Son thanked the Party Central Committee Secretariat for trusting him with the task of Secretary of the Party Union of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. He said that this is both a great honor and a weighty responsibility. He affirmed that he will continue to study, practice, and sharpen his professional expertise to meet the increasing requirements of the task, as well as inherit the results in the people-to-people foreign affairs of the Viet Nam Friendship Organization. He pledged to work with the leaders, officers, civil servants, and staff of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and member organizations at central and local levels to constantly innovate and contribute to foreign affairs and people-to-people diplomacy and the development of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. He respectfully thanked the direction and facilitation of comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga and previous leaders.
Comrade Phan Anh Son was born in 1975 in Hanoi. Since July 2013, he has held many positions at the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations such as Head of the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM), Head of the Multilateral Affairs Department, Director of the Institute for International Studies and Public Diplomacy Studies, Vice President - General Secretary of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, President of the Institute of International Studies and Public Diplomacy Studies. On Sep. 13, 2023, with 95/95 votes in favor, the Presidium of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, 6th session for the 2019-2024 tenure, elected him to hold the position of President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations for the 2019-2024 tenure, taking over the position from comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga who retires from Sep. 1, 2023.

Also at the Conference, comrade Nguyen Quang Duong handed over the decision of the Secretariat on the retirement of comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga, former Party Secretary, and former President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations from September 1 /2023.
Recognizing the great contributions of comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga during 35 years of work in diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, comrade Nguyen Quang Duong affirmed that comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga has always excellently completed all tasks assigned by the Party and State and has made many positive contributions to the imprints of the country's diplomacy. Under the leadership of comrade Nguyen Phuong Nga, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations has made many positive innovations, effectively performing its core role in people-to-people diplomacy.
