VUFO and the UN in Vietnam Promote Closer Cooperation

On August 29, in Hanoi, Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), met with Pauline Tamesis, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam. Their discussion focused on the future direction of cooperation between the two sides.

Phan Anh Son provided a summary of VUFO's roles, responsibilities, and potential for collaboration with international partners. He highlighted that 2025 is a pivotal year for gearing up for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, set for 2026. It is also a period for the halfway review of the execution of the One Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development 2022-2026 between the Vietnamese Government and both resident and non-resident United Nations agencies in Vietnam. The President of VUFO expressed his aspiration to further solidify productive and substantial cooperation with the United Nations agencies in Vietnam in the future.

Pauline Tamesis states that the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Vietnam ensures the cohesive operation of United Nations agencies, collectively aiding Vietnam in attaining its development objectives set by the government. She commends the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and its network of members and partners for their role in consultancy, information provision, feedback, and support of the United Nations' endeavors in Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to continue exchanging information and taking advantage of cooperation opportunities in the coming time.
