'I will Continue to Contribute to the Peoples' Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Japan'

Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Yamada Takio made the statement when receiving the medal "For Peace and Friendship among Nations" from the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, in  Hanoi, on April 23. The medal recognizes his contributions in promoting friendship and cooperation between the people of Vietnam and Japan.
At the ceremony, Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, awarded the medal "For peace and friendship between peoples" to Ambassador Yamada Takio. Congratulating Ambassador Yamada Takio on his successful term in Vietnam, Mr. Phan Anh Son highly appreciated the Ambassador's contributions to strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations believes that Ambassador Yamada Takio will continue to contribute to the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the two peoples regardless of his positions.

According to a report by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, during more than four years working in Vietnam, Ambassador Yamada Takio has contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries in politics, defense, security, diplomacy, economy, culture, and education.

In his position as the Head of the Organizing Committee on the Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations, Ambassador Yamada Takio closely directed the implementation of over 500 activities in Vietnamese and Japanese provinces and cities. He coordinated with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association to organize a ceremony to celebrate the occasion in  Hanoi on September 21, 2023 with the presence of Crown Prince Akishino and Princess and Truong Thi Mai, permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Head of the CPV Central Committee's Organization Commission, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group

Ambassador Yamada Takio also participated in and organized the Cherry Blossom Goodwill Ambassador competition; Haiku Poetry Contest for Vietnamese Children; Vietnam - Japan Festival; the Premiere performance of the "Princess Anio" opera, the "Ao Dai - Kimono fashion show"; Urasenke tea ceremony introduction; Kyogen comedy performance in  Hanoi and Ha Nam. Through the mentioned programs, Ambassador Yamada Takio strives to deepen the understanding and awareness of the Japanese and Vietnamese people about the similarities and closeness of the two countries' cultures, thereby promoting mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries.

During his term, Ambassador Yamada Takio actively promotes cooperation in preventing and combating the Covid-19 pandemic between the two countries. With his support, about 7,350,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been provided to Vietnam to fight the pandemic.

In addition, many projects within the framework of grassroots non-refundable aid cooperation of the Japanese government such as building primary schools in Thanh Hoa province, and demining in Quang Binh province have been implemented.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Yamada Takio expressed his honor to receive the medal. He felt blessed to take on the role of Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam during the bilateral relations' vibrant stage of development.

The Ambassador expressed his pride in contributing to connecting people-to-people relations between the two countries. He affirmed that he will always carry beautiful memories of the country and people of Vietnam in his heart, and hopes to return to Vietnam soon.
