On December 30, the Ambassadors of Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Malaysia to Cuba lauded Vietnam's leadership as the rotating Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Havana, Cuba (ACHC) for the latter half of 2024, commending its efforts to bolster intra-regional relations and enhance the bloc’s connections with the host nation.

During the handover ceremony of the rotating chairmanship to Cambodia, Vietnam's Ambassador to Cuba, Le Quang Long, recapped the ASEAN Committee in Havana's (ACHC) activities in the second half of 2024.

This included organizing events and meetings with local officials to strengthen friendship and solidarity within the ASEAN community, as well as enhancing mutual understanding between ASEAN and Cuba.

Cambodian Ambassador Chea Thireak pledged to enhance ACHC's activities and strengthen relations with Cuba in all areas, particularly in the economy, trade, investment, tourism, and culture.

At the event, ambassadors from ASEAN countries in Cuba—Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam—along with representatives from Timor-Leste, which is on the path to joining the bloc, stressed the importance of fostering unity within ASEAN and promoting cooperation with Cuba to enhance ASEAN's image and reputation.
