Vietnam-Russia Relations: Celebrating Years of Close Friendship

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko highlighted that cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in the current period is diverse and rich.
He made that statement on June 11 during in an event celebrating the 34 years of Russia’s National Day (June 12, 1990 - June 12, 2024) organized by the Russian Center of Science And Culture in Hanoi.
According to the Russian ambassador, the foundation of this cooperative relationship is the tradition of consistent friendship, mutual support and mutual benefits laid down by the ancestors. The two countries have unlimited potential to continue to deepen bilateral cooperation, and its sole goal is to ensure the prosperity and well-being of the two peoples.
The diplomat informed that 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of a treaty on the basic principles of Vietnam-Russia relations (June 16, 1994 - June 16, 2024). The treaty is an important milestone in the history of cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. This document sets out the key principles in the cooperative relationship between the two countries in the new historical period, affirming the inheritance of large-scale collaboration between the two countries since the Soviet era.
The National Day of the Russian Federation is also a holiday of national unity. Every year this event takes on a deeper meaning, symbolizing loyalty to the patriotic traditions and national unity of all peoples of Russia, Vladimir added.
The event attracted the participation of nearly 200 delegates, Hanoians who love Russia and Russian culture, and Russian friends living, working, and studying in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the program, delegates enjoyed unique art performances performed by amateur artists, and the exhibition titled "The Most Beautiful Country" of the Russian Geographical Society as well as savored the culinary festival of Russian ethnic groups.Earlier, on June 7, the Russian Embassy in Hanoi also hosted a similar-themed reception with the participation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
The Russian Ambassador emphasized that in the context of the current world situation, Russia’s Look East policy is increasingly important in the country’s foreign policy, affirming that Russia prioritizes promoting the strategic partnership with ASEAN, in which it always values and wishes to further strengthen the strong friendship with Vietnam, one of Russia’s key partners in Southeast Asia, for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
