Vice Chairman of CPPCC Receives Delegates to 12th Vietnam-China People's Forum

On the morning of June 24, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, Zhou Qiang, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) received delegates participating in the 12th Vietnam-China People's Forum.

At the meeting, Zhou Qiang, Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said this year's forum was meaningful as it was held in Hunan province, Chairman Mao Zedong's hometown.

The relationship between the two countries, built and nurtured by Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh, is developing well, with higher political trust, and stronger cooperation.
During the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, the two sides reached a common understanding on building a strategically significant China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future.

Zhou Qiang expressed his impression of Vietnam's achievements in innovation, international integration, socio-economic development as well as China-Vietnam relations in recent years.

He said that China is in the process of promoting modernization, Vietnam is also modernizing the country.

The two sides increase exchanges and share experiences, which will create new momentum for the development of each country.

He said that towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, it is necessary to well implement the common perceptions of the leaders of the two Parties and countries, contributing to building the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future.
He emphasized that the Vietnam-China People's Forum co-organized by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries has become an important platform for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

This is emphasized in the 2023 Vietnam-China Joint Declaration, contributing to building a stronger social foundation.

Zhou Qiang proposed that the forum continue to implement high-level common awareness and develop relations through people-to-people exchanges.

Delegates attending the forum discussed bilateral cooperation issues in the fields of politics, socio-economics, and culture, contributing recommendations to strengthen relations between the two countries in the coming time.

Phan Anh Son, president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, said that the Vietnam-China People's Forum is one of the outstanding activities, contributing to promoting people-to-people exchanges and building a social foundation for relations between the two countries.

Son said the relationship between the two countries is developing strongly, reaching new heights. After the Covid-19 pandemic, exchanges between the two peoples have been vibrant. This is reflected in the sharp increase in the number of tourists and students from one country to another country, with two-way trade exchange reaching US$171.2 billion in 2023.
Son emphasized the role of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) as an organization responsible for Vietnam's people-to-people diplomacy.

He said that VUFO has regular exchanges with Chinese partners. The Union and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries successfully co-organized 11 Vietnam-China People's Forums, forming a mechanism for sincere, frank, constructive exchange, contributing to the relationship between the two countries.

In the coming time, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the two countries friendship associations will increase delegation exchanges, and promote practical cooperation.

This contributes to strengthening understanding between the people of the two countries, building a stronger social foundation for bilateral relations.

Under the theme 'Continuing Friendship, Holding Hands and Moving Forward Together' the 12th Vietnam-China People's Forum is taking place in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, China, on June 25-26.

It is attended by 26 experts, scholars, public figures, journalists, and business representatives from both countries who have deep insights into Vietnam-China relations.

Delegates have been engaged in discussions on four main topics of political and diplomatic relations, economic and trade cooperation, local collaboration as well as media and academic exchanges, with a spirit of goodwill, openness, honesty, and trust.
